Grace in Not Knowing

Today is the fourth Sunday in Lent - the season of spiritual reflection leading up to Easter. We’ve been thinking about grace this Lent. Today’s Gospel story centers on the aftermath of one of Jesus’ miracles. A man who was born blind was healed and able to see, but this challenged the status quo of the leaders. His sight made them uncomfortable. It is a difficult truth that when we are truly transformed by Christ, it can upset the order of things around us. It can even become unsettling for ourselves. How will we react when our eyes are opened to the truth around us? Will we wish we were still blind, or be willing to change? Today, we ask the Spirit of God to open our eyes and help us to live as people of the light.
