Desi was born and raised in Oklahoma as a United Methodist PK (Preacher’s Kid). As a result she describes herself as home-full because she has lived all over our great state and has come to know and love the many people and places Oklahoma has to offer, and our many expressions of United Methodism.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Religion from Oklahoma City University and a Master of Divinity from Boston University School of Theology. She worked for many years as a youth director in United Methodist settings before answering her call to ordained ministry. She has served churches in Boston, MA as an intern pastor, as Associate Pastor at Broken Arrow First UMC, and is now the Senior Pastor at Goodrich Memorial UMC in Norman, OK.

Desi is passionate about teaching and preaching God’s incredible love, and she has a great love for meeting people from any and everywhere to share that love with them. She enjoys reading, traveling, Mexican food and spending time with her family, including her fiancé Jason – not necessarily in that order.

If you would like to contact Pastor Desi, please email her at pastor.desisharp@gmail.com or call the church at 405-321-0975.

Lou Hubbard

Lou was born in Texas where she spent the first 21 years of her life in the small farming community of Wheeler in the Panhandle. She grew up riding horses and showing pigs and singing hymns in Wheeler First UMC. She attended college in Texas and started her career life as a medical billing clerk. Lou left Texas and moved to Oklahoma in 1984 when she met her late husband Bob. They raised three children together. Bob and Lou joined Goodrich in 1986.

In 2017 Lou became the Administrative Assistant here at Goodrich. Her hobbies are reading, traveling, baking and spending time with her grown children.

God has brought her far on her journey of life and his promises always prevail. She holds tight to his word:

Isaiah 41: 10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Hello! Welcome to Goodrich Altared Life Youth!

A little about me, I have a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Psychology through the University of Oklahoma, along with a Masters Degree in Administrative Leadership through the University of Oklahoma. I came down to Norman after my high school graduation and never left! We love this town and this church.

My family and I have attended Goodrich Memorial United Methodist Church since 2006. Our three children were baptized here and I can't imagine going anywhere else. We love the people here, everyone is so welcoming, this is our second home!

We have been Youth Sponsors since our eldest son became a youth, and I felt the calling to become the Director of Youth Ministries starting in June 2017. I love the youth group and watching them grow their faith. My hope is that I instill in them a lifelong love for learning and walking with God.

If we haven't met yet, I look forward to meeting you! And, if you are ever in need of anything, please do not hesitate to ask. I truly believe in the United Methodist Church's motto: Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors. See you soon!

Many Blessings,
Kao Laizure

Director of Children's Ministries

Sherry McCurley

I was baptized at Goodrich and actively participated until I graduated college from UCO in Edmond with an Oral Communication Education degree. I met my husband, Steve, in the theatre dept. at UCO. A year after graduation, Steve and I were married at Goodrich then moved away to teach. After many years of teaching, earning a master’s degree in Educational Leadership, raising a beautiful daughter, leading a Girl Scout troop from Daisys through Seniors, working on several church staffs in children’s and youth ministries, I am happy to say we have retired to South OKC and have re-joined Goodrich. It is wonderful to be back home.

I love working with children and families. Their creativity and energy never ceases to amaze me. I hope to help the children grow in their knowledge of Jesus and guide them along their faith journey.

If you are looking for a caring and loving church home, this is it! I look forward to meeting you and your children.

Jesus said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these.” Mark 10:14
