He is excited and thrilled to begin his faith journey with Goodrich Memorial United Methodist Church. His favorite biblical passage comes from Psalm 121 KJV, which tells of God's undying love for those who love him, remembering to always turn to him in time of need. “I will lift mine eyes unto the hills, from whence comes my help. My help comes from the Lord."

Director of Youth Ministries

Kao Laizure

Hello! Welcome to Goodrich Altared Life Youth!

A little about me, I have a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Psychology through the University of Oklahoma, along with a Masters Degree in Administrative Leadership through the University of Oklahoma. I came down to Norman after my high school graduation and never left! We love this town and this church.

My family and I have attended Goodrich Memorial United Methodist Church since 2006. Our three children were baptized here and I can't imagine going anywhere else. We love the people here, everyone is so welcoming, this is our second  home!

We have been Youth Sponsors since our eldest son became a youth, and I felt the calling to become the Director of Youth Ministries starting in June 2017. I love the youth group and watching them grow their faith. My hope is that I instill in them a lifelong love for learning and walking with God.

If we haven't met yet, I look forward to meeting you! And, if you are ever in need of anything, please do not hesitate to ask. I truly believe in the United Methodist Church's motto: Open Hearts, Open Minds, Open Doors. See you soon!

Many Blessings,
Kao Laizure

If we have not had a chance to get to know one another yet, I’d like to take just a moment and tell you a little bit about myself. I grew up in a Christian home, and have been fortunate to always know Jesus and his love for me. I started working for the local church when I was just a teenager, cleaning up the building part time on the weekends. When I was a bit older I became a youth director, working at various churches for over a decade. I loved that job. I loved getting to see God at work in the lives of our youth, and getting to see them change their parts of the world by living into Jesus’ love.

I began to feel a call to ordained ministry toward the end of my time as a youth director, and as a result I returned to school, finishing up a degree in Religion at Oklahoma City University before attending seminary at Boston University.  I served in a couple of congregations in Massachusetts as an intern pastor before graduating and returning to Oklahoma. I was appointed to First UMC in Broken Arrow when I returned, and have now been appointed to be your pastor here at Goodrich.

I may have mentioned that I am excited to be here! I can see God at work through this community, and know that we have a significant Kingdom impact on many people’s lives, in our neighborhood, our city, our state, and around the world. I look forward to continuing to learn about the ministries that are already taking place here, and I cannot wait to see what God has in store for our future, as we go about continuing to build the Kingdom!
